A six-point performance from Hayden Wheddon powered the Niverville Nighthawks to a dominant 9–1 victory over the Portage Terriers Wednesday night at the CRRC, extending their winning streak to four games.

In just two weeks, players from across the country will converge in Niverville for the CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship. The four-day tournament from March 11–14 is being hosted at the CRRC by Providence University College.

The Winter Olympics have come to a close, but several local youth athletes are preparing for their own moment on the big stage at the upcoming Manitoba Games. Held every two years and alternating between summer and winter competitions, the Games will take place this year in Thompson from March 1–7. More than 1,500 competitors from across Manitoba will take part, including more than 150 athletes representing Team South in 12 sports.

The Niverville Nighthawks earned a hard-fought 2–0 shutout victory over the Swan Valley Stampeders during their second northern road swing of the season.

On February 17, Niverville’s council addressed the matter of adding new parks and greenspace in the coming years. The topic arose during a discussion with developer Len Peters of Sunset Estates, who was seeking a rezoning approval for Highlands West.
