On Tuesday, October 21, friends and residents of the Niverville Heritage Centre filled the atrium in support of this year’s fundraising effort.

After 75 years of offering Christian education services to southeast Manitoba, the Steinbach Christian School (SCS) has become a cornerstone institution—and it is continuing to grow. Over the past three years, SCS’s enrolment has increased by a remarkable 60 percent.

Niverville’s town council convened for their bimonthly public meeting on October 21. Three conditional use permits were considered along with one variation request.

Whenever an organization invested in humanitarian work needs more space in which to expand, it’s a good problem to have. That’s the case with the Joy Smith Foundation (JSF), and it’s bringing the foundation to Niverville.

It is said that change is the only constant in life. But, as with the seasons, there are some things we can count on with regularity. For example, elections. Every four years in Manitoba, we take part in municipal elections. The next one is scheduled for October 2026. 

Attendees at this year’s Harvest Manitoba Empty Bowls Celebrity Auction and Dinner are in for a rare treat. On October 16, at the RBC Convention Centre, a bowl handcrafted by Dolly Parton will be auctioned off alongside 30 others, all donated by celebrities, including Hollywood icons, pop and country musicians, sports stars, an astronaut, and a literary legend.
