Prairie Soul Dance Company of Niverville is encouraging residents to spend their Thursday evenings in August participating in a barre and yoga class.

When a recent report came out suggesting that the Jets and Trouba were once again far apart in terms of dollars while discussing a new deal, it felt like a flashback to the 2016 offseason, when the then-22-year-old Trouba believed he was worth $6 million before ultimately signing a two-year deal with an annual average value of $3 million. That deal was signed on November 7, just three weeks prior to the December 1 deadline for restricted free agents (RFAs) to decide whether to sign a deal or become ineligible to play the rest of the season.

In the midst of the heat and sun of a Manitoba summer, the Niverville Skating Club (NSC) is preparing its schedule of lessons and activities for the fall. And while it may seem early to be thinking about lacing up skates, NSC president Elissa Leah is encouraging people interested in skating later in the year to make plans now.

Heading into the 2018 offseason, the Jets appeared to be in a cap crunch. But thanks to some clever maneuvering by management, the team now finds itself with a little extra pocket cash. This cap space came about when the team shipped forward Joel Armia, goaltender Steve Mason, and a couple of late round draft picks to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a 21-year-old defenceman by the name of Simon Bourque. Bourque was selected in the sixth round of the 2015 draft, and while he doesn’t have a big upside yet, the Quebec native should settle in well with the team’s minor league affiliate, the Manitoba Moose.

Sandra Klassen of Niverville is a prime example of staying fit and having fun, even as we age. This was her first year signing up to compete in the annual Manitoba 55+ Games, and she came out a winner in every category in which she was entered.

Several Niverville U10 soccer teams came home with medals from the season-ending tournament which took place in Beausejour on Saturday, June 23. Teams from Niverville, Steinbach, Grunthal, Vita, Beausejour, Landmark, Ste. Anne, Anola, Tyndall, and Blumenort all showed up to compete on a day that started out cool but ended with scorching heat.
