After a month that began with him scoring a hat trick in his home country of Finland, Patrik Laine closed out November scoring 18 goals, adding one assist, and taking home the NHL’s first star of the month in the process.

On December 4, Niverville held a public council meeting at 9:00 a.m. to discuss a number of conditional use permits that have come forward. Owners of businesses coming to 40 Drovers Run, including Negash Coffee and Niverville’s Pizzeria, requested conditional use permits for the opening of their new businesses in the spring of 2019. Both were granted by acclamation of council.

The Niverville Nighthawks once again found themselves on the losing side of things on Saturday night, falling 6–3 to the Virden Oil Capitals at the CRRC. With the loss, the Nighthawks stay in fourth place in the MJHL’s East Division with a record of 23–20–4.

College Gabrielle-Roy in Île-des-Chênes dominated their volleyball season, with three of their teams qualifying for Provincials. 

Dean Sproule of Niverville was recently honoured with the Grassroots Coach of the Year from Baseball Manitoba for his work with the 14U Manitoba girls team.

Another year is now behind us, and as 2018 comes to a close I find that it’s a good time for reflection—an opportunity to refocus.

As a presenter at this fall’s Grain World conference in Winnipeg, Dyck challenged the big guns of agribusiness to take a serious look at Niverville for a grain-processing facility coupled with a railway loop.
