St. Adolphe is a quaint community along the Red River. Its francophone roots are still evident, having been originally settled by the Metis in the mid-nineteenth century. 

Dubbed Manitoba’s fastest growing community, Niverville lies just 20 minutes south of Winnipeg’s perimeter. Along with unprecedented growth, this town of nearly 5,000 is quickly becoming a regional hub for commerce, health, and wellness.

For some, the true meaning of rural life is living right in the heart of the prairie, gazing up at the dark, starry skies without the distraction of city lights, and taking in the sights and sounds of farmers at work in their nearby fields. That’s New Bothwell.  

On February 8, Niverville’s town council held a public open house at the south end of the arena to introduce aspects of a functional design study proposed for Niverville’s Main Street. The study encompasses the section of Provincial Highway 311 stretching from Krahn Road to Sixth Avenue. 

The start of a new year is often seen as an opportunity for change and new beginnings. One of those new beginnings recently came to Île-des-Chênes in a tasty way. In January, Pete and Faye Klippenstein opened Pietro’s Pizza at 597 Meadowlark Boulevard, Unit 8.

The Île-des-Chênes Professional Centre, at 430 Main Street, is set to open on April 1 and will serve as the community’s newest commercial and residential complex.

On Tuesday, January 16, Niverville’s town council voted in favour to pass the first reading on a water utility rate hike for the community. The second and third readings will be presented to council at the next scheduled public meeting.

When Dr. Trish Simner was a young woman growing up in Ste. Agathe, she didn’t think much about leaving her hometown one day, let alone her province. Yet all these years later, she’s more than left Manitoba; she’s moved with her family across the continent, where she’s achieving big things as the Director of Medical Bacteriology and Parasitology Laboratories at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
