Ste. Agathe Man Named BSI CEO

On July 1, Ren de Moissac of Ste. Agathe took on the CEO reins of BSI Insurance Brokers. De Moissac, who has been with the company for more than 11 years, says he has served in many capacities, including in customer service, IT, Human Resources, accounting, and marketing.

It was a very forgettable evening at the CRRC on Wednesday evening as the Niverville Nighthawks fell 6–2 to the Winnipeg Freeze.

Chris Ewen Elected Mayor of Ritchot

In the RM of Ritchot’s July 19 by-election, Chris Ewen snuck past incumbent Jackie Hunt to be elected mayor. According to preliminary results, Ewen received 742 votes to Hunt’s 650. Other challengers included Gene Whitney (413 votes) and Marianne Curtis (106 votes).

Niverville Council Plans for New Water Pipeline

Niverville’s town council has a plan to deal with the shortfall of water from its Spruce Drive water treatment plant. As previously reported, a new wellfield has been identified in the RM of Hanover, to the east of Highway 59, and a pipeline will have to be constructed to connect that well to Niverville’s water system.

Niverville Council Advocates for School-Multiplex Campus

Years of anxiety about Niverville’s school overcrowding problems are finally being put to rest. Although the province made it clear a month ago that Niverville was a high priority for a new high school, the official announcement came on June 16 when the Honourable Ian Wishart, Manitoba’s Education and Training Minister, issued a request for proposals from architectural firms, with architects to be interviewed by the end of June.
