There is a new option in Niverville for those who like to garden but don’t have access to their own garden plot. The town’s brand-new Community Gardens are open to anyone to rent for the season.

This morning, Maxime Bernie, leader of the federal People’s Party of Canada and a former candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party, spoke in Niverville around 11:30 a.m. in Hespeler Park at an anti-mask and anti-restrictions rally. Later in the day, he was arrested by RCMP officers.

An investigation body assigned to deal with charges related to the actions of RCMP’s officer, the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU), has concluded that an allegation against an on-duty RCMP officer has merit.

On Thursday, June 10, Premier Brian Pallister held a press conference to lay out a loose framework for reopening Manitoba’s economy and allowing Manitobans to enjoy broader freedoms progressively throughout the summer.

On Wednesday, June 9, the provincial government announced updated public health orders which will take effect this upcoming Saturday. Although the rules are largely unchanged, there is one significant alteration which will allow Manitobans to get the most out of the warm weather.

Manitobans who are making the choice to get vaccinated against COVID-19 will be entered into a unique lottery this summer. Nearly $2 million in cash and scholarships will be given away, further encouraging people to get their jab as quickly as possible.

On June 8, the province announced the start of a new strategy to incentivize Manitobans to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The provincial government will start issuing immunization cards to fully vaccinated individuals—and the cards will come with freedoms and benefits not yet available to the population at large.

As Niverville’s brand-new Community Recreation and Resource Centre (CRRC) nears completion, along with its arena, the news can at last be told: Niverville will soon be home to its own Junior A hockey franchise.
