This morning, Maxime Bernie, leader of the federal People’s Party of Canada and a former candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party, spoke in Niverville around 11:30 a.m. in Hespeler Park at an anti-mask and anti-restrictions rally. Later in the day, he was arrested by RCMP officers.

Niverville Centennial Arena Damaged by Thunderstorm

At approximately 7:50 p.m. on June 5, a large thunderstorm passed over the Niverville area, causing major damage to the Niverville Centennial Arena. The roof over the back half of the structure lifted off in an extremely strong gust of wind, breaking it free and tossing it over the outdoor rink to the east of the building.
