Just one day before Manitobans bore witness to the swearing in of their first Indigenous premier, one Niverville resident was in Ottawa to attend a national anti-racism conference of global significance.

The annual Scare with the Mayor is planned for 6:00–9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31 at the TC Energy Centre in Île-des-Chênes. Everyone is invited to attend this free, family-friendly event where there will be candy, popcorn, and Halloween-themed activities, including the opportunity to “scare” Ritchot mayor Chris Ewen.

Both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Providence College are headed for the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) championships after another weekend of success on the pitch.

The Niverville Nighthawks kickstarted the 2023 MJHL Showcase on the right note with a 5–2 win over the Dauphin Kings on Monday afternoon at the Seven Oaks Sportsplex. This keeps the Nighthawks in third place in the MJHL’s East Division with a record of 8–3–1.

Niverville Fire & Emergency Services will once again be hosting a perogy supper fundraiser on Saturday, November 11. The dinner will run from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Donations are accepted, and any donations over $20 will be issued a tax receipt.

For decades now, Remembrance Day has been an occasion of special significance in Niverville, largely due to a team of dedicated volunteers who has for decades sought to convey the timeless message, “lest we forget,” in a vibrant and meaningful way.

With extreme heat conditions persisting, along with high winds and a lack of precipitation, the provincial government is declaring a state of wildfire emergency in some areas of Manitoba.

By the end of this week, students across Niverville High School (NHS) will be a little more schooled in what it means to be of Asian descent. This is thanks to students like Naomi Sarmiento, a Grade 11 student of Filipino background.

The Niverville Nighthawks got back into the win column in a big way with a 3–2 shootout win over the Portage Terriers at the CRRC on Saturday evening. With the win, the Nighthawks stay in third place in the MJHL’s East Division with a record of 7–3–1.

In the midst of recent extreme temperatures and high winds, out of control wildfires are now moving through some parts of eastern Manitoba where cottages and campgrounds abound.
