This year, for the first time, Truth and Reconciliation Day (TRD) on September 30 will be observed as a statutory holiday in Manitoba. In honour of the day, a number of local organizations are preparing events, and they encourage all Manitobans to participate in order to reflect upon and learn from the legacy of residential schools in Canada’s history.

On Saturday night at the CRRC, the Niverville Nighthawks wrapped up their preseason with a 4–2 loss to the Steinbach Pistons. After four straight wins, this brought their preseason record to 4–1.

Barry Locke and his granddaughters share a special connection—and just as a cord of many threads remains strong under tension, they are finding ways to remain close even during these times of social distancing. Barry’s three granddaughters are continuing their regular visits to Niverville Credit Union Manor to see their grandpa.

Ron and Sherri Hildebrandt are a semiretired couple from Niverville currently serving a mandatory self-isolation order since their unexpected return from working with Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) in Rockport, Texas. The site was closed abruptly and they were directed to return home as soon as possible.
