The first meeting of the Manitoba Southeast Commerce Group took place on Thursday, May 28. The group merges the chambers of commerce of several neighbouring municipalities, including the RM of Ritchot, the RM of Ste. Anne, the Town of Ste. Anne, and the RM of Taché. As a consequence, the Ritchot Regional Chamber of Commerce has officially been dissolved.
The amalgamation has been in the works since at least May 2019, when the concept of the Manitoba Southeast Commerce Group was first unveiled to the public.
“This multi-regional non-profit Chamber of Commerce will serve the purpose of promoting local business and commerce, providing leadership, resources, and fostering a strong local economic environment throughout the geographical regions of the RM of Ritchot, the RM of Ste. Anne, the Town of Ste. Anne and the RM of Taché, excluding the Town of Landmark,” reads a press release from the group.
At the May 28 meeting, a board was appointed to oversee the Manitoba Southeast Commerce Group. Derek Roth of Adventure Power Products will serve as the organization’s first president. Trina Brulé of Seine River Safety Solutions has been appointed vice-president and Larissa Plett of LCP Bookkeeping has been appointed Secretary-Treasurer.
“We are excited to work collaboratively with businesses and entrepreneurs across our newly expanded region,” says Roth. “Making new connections, sharing ideas, and supporting this business community will create a stronger and brighter future for all who live, work, and do business across the Southeast Commerce Group region.”
