The Town of Niverville has issued a reminder for its residents to be aware of fire safety this spring. Although several municipalities around the town have implemented burn bans, Niverville has not yet taken this step.
“Fires can be used in approved fire pits,” says Keith Bueckert, the town’s first chief. “No yard waste can be burnt in your fire pit and/or property. Yard waste can be taken to Bristal Hauling or the compost depot behind the curling rink. Only clean dry wood should be burnt in your fire pit.”
Bueckert also advises people to check weather conditions regarding wind before lighting any fire. He also notes that fires should not be left unattended.
Should a burn ban become necessary, it will be advertised through the town’s website and affiliated social media accounts.
