With temperatures rising, the Town of Niverville is reminding residents that the province will soon announce spring weight restrictions on local roads. These restrictions are set annually as a means to protect infrastructure during the thawing season.
The season usually runs from March to May. The goal is to limit vehicular travel on certain roads based on axle weights.
According to the province, roads classified under Level 1 can take 90 percent of a normal axle load while Level 2 roads can take 65 percent. See below for a map indicating how local streets qualify.
This information is important for residents anticipating deliveries of construction materials and landscaping supplies over the coming months. In Niverville, those deliveries are restricted to new builds only. All others must wait for the spring restrictions to be lifted in order to receive deliveries.
Delivery vehicles authorized to enter the community must come and go by the same route. Deliveries to Fifth Avenue Estates West must be made via Krahn Road or Mulberry Avenue. Arena Road is strictly off-limits to larger vehicles.
For authorization to deliver, permission must be granted through the town’s director of operations.
