Despite the cancellation of the Olde Tyme Country Fair, Niverville will still see some big community events happen this summer. The Town of Niverville has partnered with the fair committee to plan a Canada Day parade for July 1, along with another community event which will take place at 10:00 p.m. the same day.

Niverville’s council met on Tuesday, June 16 to discuss a variety of items on the town’s agenda.

When COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the Town of Niverville’s cooking classes, the recreation department took them online. So far, it’s been to rave reviews.

Staff at École-Collège Régional Gabrielle-Roy in Île-des-Chênes and the Niverville High School (NHS) have had to get creative this spring in order to make plans for their schools’ upcoming graduation ceremonies. The schools will be graduating 52 young people apiece this year, but getting them across the finish line has been, to put it mildly, a bit complicated.

John Plett is a 94-year-old resident of the Heritage Life Personal Care Home, where he has lived since May 2019. His wife Annie was also a resident there until her passing in August 2019.

Niverville Middle School will be getting a new principal starting in the fall, following the recently announced retirement of Principal Michael Koester. The school division has decided to hire from within, promoting the current vice principal, Craig Cumming, to the big chair.
