The strip mall along Meadowlark Boulevard in Île-des-Chênes has a new business, Shoni Cree’s, a small family gift shop that specializes in Indigenous giftware.

Pending approval by Niverville’s town council at a meeting on December 17, the town could soon be welcoming the global fitness franchise Anytime Fitness to its business community.

Niverville’s council gathered on the morning of Tuesday, December 3 to discuss a range of business on the town’s agenda. Mayor Myron Dyck was present alongside councillors Nathan Dueck, Kevin Stott, and John Funk. Councillor Chris Wiebe was absent. 

During this festive season, it seems fitting to honour Annie Dyck, a senior living at the Niverville Credit Union Manor and celebrating her ninetieth birthday on December 25.

SOAK Bath Co, owned by Niverville entrepreneur Candace Alarie, has recently received national attention for its handcrafted luxury bath and body products. SOAK features Alarie’s homemade, all-natural recipes for soap and shampoo bars wrapped in biodegradable seed paper packaging.

Last Christmas marked the first season of the local chapter of Operation Red Nose, and the volunteer committee is gearing up for another busy December. Operation Red Nose is a volunteer-based national program that acts as a formal designated driver service, providing safe rides for Manitobans throughout the holidays.
