A park in Ste. Agathe is entering phase two of fundraising efforts to improve the outdoor space and make it a meeting spot for the entire community.

Its average discharge of 8,334 cubic feet per second is even less remarkable, ranking it thirty-ninth among Canada’s rivers.

So much so that the community has adopted the bird as its own, inviting bird watchers from around the province to witness the sight. As a result, St. Adolphe is known as the chimney swift nesting capital of Manitoba.

The Town of Niverville has issued a reminder for its residents to be aware of fire safety this spring. Although several municipalities around the town have implemented burn bans, Niverville has not yet taken this step.

Old Drovers Run in Niverville hosted a meet-and-greet on Wednesday, April 24, to introduce members of the community with the golf course’s new management team. The event kicked off at 5:00 p.m. at the course, located at the corner of Krahn Road and Highway 311, and ended at 7:30 p.m.

Fortunately, the 2019 Red River Flood has turned out to be a relatively non-event, with the crest this week falling well short of the dire predictions made earlier in the year before an unusually cool and dry spring came to the rescue. Although water levels on the river are currently very high, they are not threatening very many towns and homes. However, that was not always the case. Today’s article, originally published two years ago, examines some of the more momentous springs in the Red River Valley in recent memory.

Richard and Laurie Dorge have loved and committed themselves to the community of Ste. Agathe for more than five decades. Now, at 82 and 76 years of age, they are some of the last aging seniors in the community. While they wish for an assisted living complex in the village Richard was born in, they will soon make the move to Winnipeg, like so many of their friends before them.
